”Gettysburg” (1993)

Tai pačio didžiausio ir žinomiausio Amerikos pilietinio karo mūšio inscenizacija. Filmas yra didingas – 4 h 30 min. Nuostabioji dūminio parako era, didingi herojai, kariuomenių vadai, garsiosios istorinės citatos. Nors ir nemėgstu amerikietiškos kultūros, bet turiu pripažinti, kad jie šiame filme pateikė nuostabų spektaklį, istorinių įvykių atkūrimą ir savo didingumu tikrai nesumenkino filmo vertės. Aš ne istorikas, tad nesigilinsiu, kur kokius istorinius netikslumus jie atvaizdavo, bet tikiu, kad tie netikslumai buvo antraeiliai.

Filme puikiai galima pajusti keletą didžiausių konfederatų generolo Lee klaidų, kurios lėmė pralaimėtą mūšį, o tuo pačiu ir karą, nes tai buvo generalinės kautynės, kurios turėjo lemti karo baigtį (aišku karas dar po to tesėsi pora metų). Vien ko vertos garsiosios dvi atakos: kai antrąją mūšio dieną konfederatai puolė kairįjį sąjungininkų sparną. Sąjungininkai puikiai laikėsi, bet praktiškai liko be patronų, tad dar vienai konfederatų bangai artėjant prie jų, sąjungininkų generolas Chamberlain įsakė ”Bayonet! Forward”.  Ir žinoma, trečiosios dienos garsioji ir kruvinoji Pickett ataka, kurios nuostoliai siekė 50%.
